Sun Graphic Technologies - Our Company

Sun Graphic Technologies' customer-first philosophy is the bedrock upon which everything else has been built. Though facilities, equipment and corporate growth may be some of the physical hallmarks of a successful company, it’s the people, Team Members and Clients - together, that create the synergy and hallmark, the REAL development of a company. This page outlines the more physical development of Sun Graphic Technologies, but if you haven’t already, please take an extra few moments to check out our “Meet The Team” page which highlights just a few of the truly excellent Team Members who make Sun Graphic Technologies a high water mark in the graphics industry.

“Sun Silk Screen” was formed in Scarsdale, New York in 1976 by Bill Blechta and his Father, George. The two had done extensive due diligence on “silk screening” which, though an ancient process,
was just beginning to bloom as a western industry. Bill and George rightly projected that, in years to come, silk screening would merge with the print industry as a new and exciting parallel process, opening many new opportunities to the world of printing.

In 1978, Sun Silk Screen officially opened for business with cutting edge equipment and technology all of which were very new to the Suncoast of Florida. The original location was 2,000 square feet located in south Sarasota.

Sun Silk Screen made ongoing investments in emerging technologies, both in equipment and in process development, during those early years of operation. These investments, which mirrored the changes in the industry, necessitated a name change in 1983 to Sun Screenprinting.

The year 1984 saw Sun Screenprinting move from its original location to its current facility in north Sarasota. This brand new, purpose built, building of 6000 square feet encompassed manufacturing and office spaces and gave Sun some much needed room to grow!

In 1989, Sun Screenprinting added an additional 10,000 square feet to the north Sarasota location for a total of 16,000 square feet of manufacturing / office space. The additional space allowed Sun to increase capacity, adding additional equipment and Team Members to once again balance supply with demand!

Ever the trend-setter, Sun Screenprinting added its first digital press in 2002 and added two additional digital presses between 2002 and 2010. This allowed the company to stay ahead of the rapid advancement of digital graphics equipment and continue to be out in front of the competition. The advent of the “digital age of printing” also necessitated yet another name change which took place in 2007 when Sun Screenprinting became Sun Graphic Technologies.

In 2013, Sun Graphic Technologies expanded their facilities yet again, adding an additional 3000+ square feet of warehouse space to be used for raw material and finished good inventories. The new warehouse is just east of, and adjacent to, the main property. Currently, Sun’s manufacturing and office spaces total nearly 20,000 square feet.

As with most companies more than three decades old, Sun’s history has seen many changes. Technological advances, changes in client demand and habits, and changes within the art creation industry itself, have made constant and even rapid development necessary right from the beginning. Sun’s commitment to being a leader in Staff, Equipment, Processes, and Quality Control Measures has resulted in exceptional growth from 1976 until today. Sun’s commitment to you, the client, is what has made us a valuable partner for growing companies the world over.
